Rumors emerged recently that Chelsea were interested in re-signing former goalie Petr Cech from Arsenal, but the veteran goalie has stated that he has not been contacted by the Blues and is solely focused on remaining Arsenal’s first choice in the upcoming season.
Cech is entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates but will face competition from summer signing Bernd Leno for the starting spot. Both players are currently in Singapore with the Arsenal squad on their pre-season tour. Cech also expressed the belief that he expects to remain at Arsenal next year.
“I have a contract with Arsenal. I am concentrating on this season, on the competition between the goalkeepers because we have plenty of options,” Cech told reporters after a training session.
“I’m doing my best to show to the manager that I can be in the starting lineup when the season starts. That’s my aim and as for the speculation, I don’t really follow it.”
According to the report, when Cech was asked directly if Chelsea had contacted him, he answered: “No.”
