Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old Greek defender Kostas Manolas from Roma after a fantastic season with the Serie A outfit.
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, the Blues are willing to meet Manolas’ €36 million release clause. Chelsea are willing to pay the Greek defender €3 million per season as they look to bolster their defence for the widely reported incoming Maurizio Sarri.
Reports suggest that the Italian tactician has pointed out a few Serie A defenders in a shortlist that includes the likes of Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Kostas Manolas from Roma, and Daniele Rugani from Juventus, with the Juve man also reportedly nearing a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, Manolas could eventually turn out to be a fall-back option for the club if the deal for Rugani from Juventus fails to go through.
