Two Chelsea stars backed to shine this season
The arrival of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech will not phase Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
That is according to Kevin Phillips, who believes new signings would only serve to motivate the pair going into next season.
He told Football Insider: “You can look at it two ways as a player.
“For me, with my own head-on, I see that as competition, somebody that I can learn off and it means you have to perform in training week in, week out to stake your claim for a place in the side.
“But deep down, when you bring in quality players like that you expect those two players to start.
“Frank knows more than anyone that competition is healthy in any squad provided you can keep everyone happy.
“These young players have had a taste of first team action but they are easier to manage than two more experienced players sitting on the bench and not playing.
“Competition but I would not say they need to be worried. See it as a challenge to go and stake a claim.”

Voller sends Havertz warning
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has sent a warning to Chelsea over their pursuit of Kai Havertz.
The German club insists they will not accept anything less than their £90 million asking price for the midfielder, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 21-year-old is still expected to eventually sign for Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
Dortmund issue Sancho statement
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they have no problem with Jadon Sancho travelling to the UK after images emerged of the winger at a party in London. Dortmund have set a deadline of August 10 for Manchester United to complete a deal for Sancho, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.
“It’s common and fine for players to go home before a training camp if they’re not risky,” Dortmund’s director of media and communication Sasha Fligge said.
“The same goes for Jadon [Sancho]. From our point of view, the pictures that have been shown to us so far do not violate.”
Kalidou Koulibaly has been named in Napoli’s 23-man squad for the Champions League next season despite links with Chelsea.
The centre-back has been the subject of £80/£90 million bid rumours in relation to Chelsea.
Frank Lampard is looking to strengthen his defensive options and could yet make a move for the 29-year-old.

Ferdinand excited by Ziyech and Werner
Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has made an exciting Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner claim.
Chelsea bowed out of the Champions League last night to Bayern Munich and Ferdinand was on punditry duties.
Whilst it was a humbling night for the Blues, Ferdinand did have an exciting viewpoint on summer signings Ziyech and Werner.
He said: “We watched Ziyech last season for Ajax, he was magnificent. He reminds me a little bit of Mahrez but he crosses the ball a little bit more.
Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech
“He’s someone who’s really always trying to find a way to unlock defences with his delivery. A lot of guile.
“Timo Werner, his movement and his finishing is phenomenal, we saw what he was like against Spurs in London. So that’s two talented players who’ll definitely improve them.”

Chelsea could hijack the White deal
Chelsea has joined the race to sign former Leeds United loanee Ben White, according to the Daily Star.
Leeds are eager to sign White on a permanent deal after he starred on loan at Elland Road last term.
But a £22 million offer from Leeds has been rejected by Brighton for the 22-year-old centre-back.

Reports in the Daily Mail claim Leicester City have made their move to sign Olympiacos full-back Kostas Tsimikas this summer.
The report suggests that the Greek outfit would be willing to accept an offer of £12 million for Tsimikas to leave during the summer transfer window.
And Leicester’s decision to move for Tsimikas would leave the door open for Ben Chilwell to join Chelsea. It seems unlikely that Leicester would be after Tsimikas if Chilwell was staying put at the King Power Stadium next season.
