Chelsea held talks with Frank Lampard over replacing outgoing Maurizio Sarri.

Frank Lampard remains the number one candidate to replace Maurizio Sarri despite other veteran coaches linked to the club.

The former Chelsea midfielder and legend currently manages Derby County, he guided his team to the play-offs but has now been reported to hold talks with Chelsea.

It’s highly likely that Sarri would be heading to Italy this week to join the current Serie A champions Juventus for the open managerial job.

Chelsea will now be on a desperate look out for a replacement for Sarri, with Lampard being the favorite to land the job, other contenders like Wolves boss Nuno Espirinto, Allegri(Free Agent), Erik Ten Hag(Ajax) and Javi Garcia(Watford) are not been ruled out.

Menawhile, Shaun wright-Phillips implore the former veteran midfielder and old country side teammate to ignore Chelsea’s call.

“He may as well continue progressing as a coach and then when he goes there he goes there for good,” Wright-Phillips said.

“That’s what I would like to see him do but if he feels ready for it – and only he knows – he should jump at it.”
