Chelsea’s reported top 5 transfer targets this summer

  • Managerial uncertainty not stopping Chelsea from quality signing in the summer.
  • Chelsea names Top five summer targets.

It’s no more news that there is managerial uncertainty at Stamford Bridge. Regardless, the club will have to make moves in the transfer market and bring in some quality players to add more bite to the side as they aim to challenge on all fronts in the forthcoming 2018/19 season, with the exclusion of the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea FC have been continually linked with a good number of players since the opening of the summer transfer window, and it is believed that one, two, or three of the players the club have been linked with will definitely don the Blue jersey for the Stamford Bridge outfit next season. Here are the top 5 players the club have been linked with recently, and hopefully, they land a few of them.

1. Jean Michael Seri (OGC Nice)

The Ivory Coast international midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, amid reported competition from the likes of Arsenal, and recently, Fulham, all London clubs. However, the Blues reportedly appear to be leading the race for the Nice midfielder whose performances in the middle of the park for Nice in the Ligue 1 have caught the eye. Chelsea need major reinforcements in the position, and hopefully, the Blues get their man. Reports also suggest that Seri has been spotted in London. What are you thinking?

2. Gonzalo Higuain

The Argentina international has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, and this is due to the belief that he had an excellent working relationship with Chelsea’s managerial target Maurizio Sarri. Reports have also suggested that any move that sees Higuain move to Chelsea will surely see Morata move in the opposite direction. Higuain is now 30, and swapping a 25-year-old Morata who has shown promise and has more to prove in his footballing career might not be the best for the club in the long term. We wait to see how this pans out. although it could easily turn out to be mere speculation.

3. Daniele Rugani

This is a very close one, Reports were even rife that a deal for the Italy international and Juventus defender had been down. Well, that seems not to have been the case as discussions over the possibility of a deal that sees Rugani become a blue are still reportedly ongoing.

4. Alisson Becker

In light of Courtois’ uncertain future at the Bridge, it was surely just a matter of time before speculations would link Chelsea with a potential replacement for the Belgian. This time, the link was to the Roma shot-stopper and Brazil’s number 1 at the Russia 2018 World Cup. Reports were rife that Chelsea were leading the race for the goalkeeper, however, we believe it will be a very tough move for Chelsea to pull off, as Alisson has also been strongly linked with concrete interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid. Both clubs will be in the UEFA Champions League next season, and he also appears to be a significant need at Liverpool.

5. Jorginho

This is a strange one, and also a new one. No one saw this speculation coming, but Jorginho is now been reported as the key to Chelsea’s completion of a deal for former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri. Jorginho has been attracting concrete interest from Manchester City, and we at SaveChelsea believe that the reported deal for Sarri which now includes a Chelsea move for Jorginho, is obviously just a ploy by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis to force City to pay up Napoli’s valuation of the class midfielder. Regardless, he’ll be very welcome at Stamford Bridge with a move for Sarri on the cards. He was integral in Sarri’s system at Napoli.
