Chelsea manager Antonio Conte oversaw Chelsea’s first pre-season training day on Monday despite reports of his uncertain future at the club. According to Sky in Italy, the Italian manager and his backroom staff were at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Saturday as some players returned to training.
The likes of Marcos Alonso, Ross Barkley, David Luiz and Cesc Fabregas were among those pictured with Conte on Monday as he led a full session of players who played no part for their countries in the Russia 2018 World Cup.
Conte still has a year remaining in his contract with reports from Sky in Italy also suggesting that negotiations between Napoli and Chelsea for Maurizio Sarri are at a standstill. Napoli are awaiting an improved offer from Chelsea for Sarri.
Meanwhile, Sarri will be officially in charge when Napoli commence pre-season training on Tuesday although Carlo Ancelotti has already signed a three-year deal to take over.
