Frank Lampard to be announced as Chelsea manager ‘before the end of the week

  • Lampard announcement is imminent.
  • Tough challenges to be faced as Chelsea new manager.

Frank Lampard is expected to be announced at the Bridge as the new Chelsea boss before the end of this week, according to reports.

Ben Fletcher a TalkSport’s reporter, reported that;

“It would take something spectacular for the deal to fall through”

as Chelsea look to hijack Frank Lampard from Derby County.

The former Chelsea midfielder became the favourite manager to take over from departed Sarri at the Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri has been unveiled as the new manager of Juventus a few days ago, and it has already been affirmed that he’d manage the Old lady’s team next season.

I think we’re at the point now where he is the overwhelming odds-on favourite, and he has been since before Maurizio Sarri departed,”

said Ben Fletcher, earlier this morning speaking to TalkSports.

So I think we can say with confidence that Frank Lampard will be installed as the Chelsea manager in the near future.

“I’m led to believe it’ll be before the end of this week, but it remains to be seen whether I’ve got that one right.

“No-one else has really been linked with the role that I can think of. I mean, Rafa Benitez is the third favourite at the moment, which seems absolutely barmy to me, especially when you consider there are reports linking him with China.”

Frank Lampard, 40, has according to reports been offered a three-year deal at the Bridge, but the Club would have to pay a compensation fee of £4million to price the English manager away from his current club.

The rumour mill have stand accredited in recent Chelsea transfer news update, especially at times a new manager has been linked to Chelsea according to Ben Fletcher.

“The only time I can really think of that I’ve been surprised by a hire was Andre Villas-Boas, and we caught wind of when he was going to be Chelsea coach quite late on before he got the gig,” he added.

“But since then, there’s been no smoke without fire, and as far as Lampard is concerned, it would take something spectacular for this to fall through.”

The 40-year-old manager has only recently completed his first spell of managing career at Derby County, he guided the team to a Championship final play-off in which his team suffered a defeat to Aston Villa.

Lampard would be facing a difficult test should he take-over at Chelsea, owing to the fact that the Club is facing a two-window transfer ban.

He’d need to utilize Chelsea’s returning loan players in the quest to water down the effect of Chelsea’s transfer ban as much as possible.

The new manager would also have to battle and fend off other clubs looking to sign their players; in the likes of Willian who is strongly on Barcelona and Atletico Madrid’s radar.

Chelsea has started initial talks with Frank Lampard with the possibility of him replacing Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri leads Chelsea to a Europa triumph last month and secured a Champions League spot for them, but despite his achievement, he is set to join Juventus for against the coming season.
