morata and giroud

Chelsea weathered the storm in recent tough fixtures as they emerged unscathed and are yet to suffer a defeat in all competitions this season.

The Blues appear to have adapted nicely to Maurizio Sarri’s ideology and it has been paying off thus far.

Chelsea are currently two points behind league leaders Manchester City and played out a 1 all draw in a cracking fixture against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League last Saturday.

However, Eden Hazard now appears to be the go-to man for the goals presently and this won’t play out well for Sarri’s men in the long run.

Chelsea have been impressive, scoring goals, and winning games this season, but it can only go on for so long without the input of the forwards in the team.

It’s just seven games into the season, but the Blues appear to have a striking problem when compared to their other rivals in the League.

The likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, and Man United all have their front men getting amongst the goals, but it’s not the same for the Blues.

The strikers at Chelsea have not scored a goal in the last 7 games, and how the team has gone by without goals from them has been surprising.

This is so, especially as the men who have been scoring for the Blues have not been very consistent goalscorers at Chelsea.

Therefore, there is the room to question on if the scoring form can continue season long.

Alvaro Morata has just 1 goal this season, while Olivier Giroud is yet to find the back of the net for the Blues this season. This is in all competitions for the duo.

This is a very worrying stat, and it became more worrying with the absence of Pedro who is currently on the sidelines.

The onus now falls on Hazard as the consistent goalscorer in the team, and his seeming scoring spree is just materializing under Sarri this season.

Olivier Giroud and Morata have to live up to the billing and score goals for Sarri’s men, which is their primary responsibility.

It’s now obvious that Chelsea will have to hit the market in January for a consistent goalscorer to give them a decent chance of a figght for the Premier League and a finish in the top 4 places.

They have been linked with a move for Fulham’s Mitrovic in January.

Hopefully, the duo improve as the games go by starting from this week’s encounters in the Europa League and away to Southampton in the Premier League.

We wait to see how it goes. Hopefully, the duo put in more effort and start getting amongst the goals to help the club’s cause before Sarri loses his patience.
