Frank Lampard has received praises from Chelsea legend Ashley Cole, though they currently play together at Derby County where Lampard has seen a great start to his managerial career.

Reports suggest the Blues are willing to replace Italian manager Sarri, who has spent a season with the club, despite a third-place finish in the Premier League and a Europa League Cup final.

Ashley Cole played alongside Lampard during his time at Chelsea and they reunited at Derby though Lampard had gone on to be a coach.  Derby has had a great year, their performance has seen them qualify for championship play-off final that takes place later today(Monday), he also added:

“Frank has done a great job,” he explained.

“People say it’s easy to come into a job like this instead of a lower league team, but this was a tough job and there was a lot of pressure on him to get the team up.

“His training is hard, it’s intense. He’s got a brand of football and Derby has an identity now.

“It’s Frank’s way of playing out from the back, midfielders running in behind, so it’s good to watch.

The former player turned coach Lampard has heavily been linked as the replacement for Maurizio Sarri whose future at the club might or might not depend on Wednesday’s Europa League final outcome against London rivals Arsenal.
