New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has expressed the confidence that the likes of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois will remain at the club beyond the summer. The players were believed to be waiting on Chelsea’s decision on who would be club manager to decide their future, regardless of the interests from Real Madrid.

He spoke after Chelsea’s first pre-season game and 1 nil win against Perth Glory, revealing that he was planning to wait and meet the players in person.

“I’d like to talk to a person face by face. I don’t like to talk to a person by telephone,” Sarri said. “It’s a pleasure to have Courtois, to have Willian, to have Hazard, but [their future] doesn’t depend on me, not only on me. So, we have to wait. I’m confident.”

The players are not on tour with Chelsea because of their participation in the Russia 2018 World Cup with Belgium.

“Face to face, I think at the end of the month because they will come to Cobham [training ground] at the end of the month,” he said.

Chelsea have upcoming games against Inter Milan and Arsenal in the International Champion Cup before the game against Manchester City in the Community Shield on Aug 5.
