Reports suggest that Chelsea FC believe that the appointment of Maurizio Sarri will help keep the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard, and Willian at Stamford Bridge. The former Napoli boss is widely expected to replace fellow Italian Antonio Conte as the manager of Chelsea.
The Sun suggests that the move for Sarri could spell the end of a likely departure for any of the three players. Hazard and Courtois have been linked with Real Madrid, while Willian whose relationship with Antonio Conte deteriorated last season has been a subject of interest from Barcelona and Manchester United.
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed on Wednesday that both clubs were close to an agreement over a compensation fee for Sarri, and it is expected that the Italian tactician will most likely be announced as new Chelsea manager in coming days.
De Laurentiis was quoted as saying: “Sarri is close to being new Chelsea manager. My lawyers are in talks with his lawyers to finalise everything.”
